You can use the saphost agent, or directly the isql command line
Using the SAP host Agent:
# /usr/sap/hostctrl/exe/saphostctrl -function StopDatabase -dbtype syb -dbname DEV -service
Using the isql Command line:
# isql -Usa -Ppassword -Sserver_name -X
1> shutdown
2> go
Issuing the shutdown command prints a message such as this to the sterr file:
Server SHUTDOWN by request.The SQL Server is terminating this process.
